Plugins can cause a high CPU or memory drain on your server and this can slow down your website.
Always think if you really need to add a new plugin. If you do really need it, then try to choose a plugin that is lightweight.
Always consider the plugins you are using. If you’re using few features in plugins like JetPack, consider removing them altogether, and replace them with lighter weight plugins that do the same job.

Server Settings
Please ensure that you use the following settings and scheduling:
- Use the latest version of PHP that is compatible with your website. At the time of writing it the latest version of PHP is 7.3

- Set your backups to complete at night

- With Shared your website will be on a server with hundreds of other websites which could be taking the resources that you need from you
- VPS gives the option to own part of a server for your own use so you are in more control
- Dedicated gives you your own server to do what ever you wish with it
Be careful with VPS and Dedicated on the Managed Services options. Some of these expect you to have the technical knowledge to make changes and fix problems. We have never had any issues on support with Inmotion Hosting or Site Ground but other hosts try to nickel and dime you.
